Training with the wrong mindset

Posted by Andy on Apr 03, 2007

I attended training yesterday with totally the wrong mindset. I felt lethargic, lacking energy, and mentally exhausted. I’ve tried to think of a good reason for this, but there really isn’t one, maybe it’s just one of ‘those days’. The trouble was that this seriously impacted the effectiveness of my training. As when you think you can’t do something you won’t, and that was very evident during whilst warming up. I struggled with the some of the simplest of things such as push-ups and sit-ups. This continued as I was unable to get my stances low, and my forms were not good quality, pathetic really.

Nevertheless, I’m not going to dwell on it, I just needed to get it off my mind whilst I was still disappointed with myself.

Learning to think and train in a way that you don’t get overwhelmed is important. If you get into the wrong frame of mind, thinking you can’t do it, it will beat you, and your body will start to believe it. Let’s see if I can get it right for Wednesday.
