Kung Pow – a stupidly funny film!

I watched Kung Pow over the weekend, and I have to tell you this movie was one of the funniest films I have seen in some time. As a Kung Fu comedy, like Scary Movie et al. It was quite refreshing compared to some of the so called comedies. I knew it was going to be quite a movie when, at the beginning, as a new born baby, the chosen one, fought off many attackers and rolled down the hill. Half way down, a woman picked him up and said “arr, so cute” and continued to roll him further down the hill. Even though there were some very stupid scenes, I really enjoyed this movie. Perhaps, it’s due in part to my rather warped sense of humour, I was doubled up in laughter throughout.

The characters include a kung fu master named Moon View, who is in fact, more bovine than you expect; a martial arts student who has developed his own style, which he uses to battle his opponents and an armada of French space invaders. You won’t find anything else like it. The film is a masterpiece of comic over dubbing. It’s nothing artistic, but it’s really is very, very good. Yeah, this film is a bit daft, but in a way which makes it hilarious. I can’t wait for the sequel.

Kung Pow is one of those films you either like or don’t like. But all I can say is, “I want set of gopher chucks. Now!”
