Green tea & energy
Recently, I was introduced to green tea by a Jo Kyo Nim Stephen as an alternative to my overwhelming dependence on tea and coffee. Being a self proclaimed caffeine addict, it seamed quite unnatural to drink tea without milk & sugar, and I struggled to get over the loss of my hourly caffeine kick. However, despite it looking like stale pee, I’ve come to really enjoy green tea.
Recent studies show that green tea can even help you lose weight. It does it by increasing the body’s metabolism. If consumed regularly, it can help you burn as much as eighty calories extra. Its reckoned, that in a year, that’s about 8 pounds you’d lose just by drinking green tea, even without diet and exercise, now that’s got to be a good thing.
I’ve noticed a few other benefits and changes to my previous lifestyle, that I wasn’t even aware of as being problems. I sleep a lot better, not longer, but deeper, leaving me completely revitalized when I awake. In fact, I get up earlier now (6am), giving my about 30minuts each day to go through my morning stretching routine. I no longer have cravings for high carb/calorie foods, and I’ve started to see the results on the weighing scales. During recent medical I found that my LDL cholesterol, the bad stuff, had reduced and is getting closer to normal.
But by far the biggest change has been the complete transformation in my energy levels. Previously, I lacked energy and stamina, and it was easy to find an excuse not to train or workout. Now I find that I my training & exercise take most of my free time. I’ve so much more energy that I’m creating more time to train, just to expend my new found energy!
So why not give green tea ago, ignore the colour, you never know, you might just enjoy it.
