Blue stripe grading
Yesterday I completed my second Kuk Sool grading, this time for my blue stripe. I found it much less stressful than my first grading, I think this is due in part to Jo Kyo Nim Michael’s mock grading last weekend, and that I pretty much knew what to expect. My sparring felt good and I was able to attack, block and counter strike with confidence, although I still have quite a bit to master with my technique. I felt confident and sharp when completing both Ki Cho Hyun and Cho Geup Hyung forms. Mind you it’s still nerve racking going through the forms in front of your fellow students and instructors. I completed Ki Bohn Soo and Sohn Mohk Soo techniques with enthusiasm, though I would have liked to be able to complete the takedowns for all the techniques covered, but I know that comes with time.
Strange thing though, on the night before grading, I had a restful evening and a good nights sleep. However, I found last night was extremely restless, and I spent most of the night analysing and second guessing my performance, was I good enough on the day?
Now I’ve just got to wait until Monday to find out if I have been successful.
